About Gina
Ever since I was young I was fascinated with animals of all kinds, but I was especially drawn to those of the ocean. My childhood curiosity transformed into a career in marine biology, studying the very creatures I used to marvel at while fishing and swimming at the Jersey Shore.
I received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami and a Master of Science from Stony Brook University, where I studied reef sharks and rays in the Caribbean. After graduate school I moved back to Miami to continue working on various marine conservation projects, aiming to better understand and protect the animals that call the ocean home.
Throughout my career in science I have relied on my creative side, mostly dabbling in watercolors and digital art. After collaborating with some fellow scientists on a few side projects, I realized how passionate I was about merging my background in science with my artistic ability. My formal science background and love of art inspire my current work in producing scientific communications, such as figures for textbooks and articles, and art that highlights fascinating animals and our natural world.
